Short version: We do not verify your identity, we do not require a separate account, and we do not store your content on our servers. Your data flows directly from your browser to Google NotebookLM.

1. Data Collection and Usage

The NoteKitLM extension relies almost entirely on existing Google NotebookLM functionality. We may also collect limited product-usage and diagnostic information to understand how the extension is used and to improve reliability and user experience.

No Separate Account: You do not need to create a separate NoteKitLM account to use the core extension experience. The extension relies on your existing Google session to interact with NotebookLM, and account-related services only apply when you choose to use website sign-in or subscription features.
Direct Communication: All content you choose to save (such as webpages, PDFs, or YouTube videos) is sent directly from your browser to Google's servers (notebooklm.google.com). We do not act as a middleman for that content and do not store that content on our servers.
Local Settings: We use browser storage technologies, including chrome.storage.local, to store preferences such as your last selected notebook, login state helpers, and other settings needed to provide the extension experience. This information is stored in your browser environment.
Product Usage and Diagnostics: We may collect high-level product analytics and diagnostic information, such as feature usage, interface visits or interactions, login status, subscription status, extension version, interface language, event outcomes, and structured error categories. This analytics data does not include page URLs, page titles, notebook titles or notebook IDs, user-entered content, or AI conversation content.

2. Permissions Explained

We only request the minimum set of permissions necessary to provide our features. We may also use cookies, browser local storage, or similar technologies to maintain sign-in state, remember preferences, and support analytics-related functionality:

declarativeNetRequest	Handles cross-origin requests so the interface works in different environments.
downloads	Allows downloading generated Studio artifacts to your device.

3. Third-party Services

Google NotebookLM: This extension is a companion tool for Google NotebookLM. Your use of NotebookLM itself is subject to Google's own terms of service and privacy policy.

Authentication, Payment, and Analytics Providers: We use third-party service providers to support authentication, subscription and payment processing, and product analytics. These providers may process login state, subscription information, and event-level usage or diagnostic data so we can operate, measure, and improve the product, but they do not receive the content you send to NotebookLM through the extension.
